Charles Marks

Charles Marks (1937-2002) was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and went to Holland in 1961, where he studied at the Rietveld Academie and the Koninklijke Academie in The Hague. He had a design firm in Amsterdam and was commissioned by industrial and other clients.

His designs included products, interior designs, furniture, sculpture and jewelry. Several awards (e.g. the ION- and IF award) for his product designs. Visiting lectureships in the field of product development and industry counselling, some of which through the agency of innovation centres in the Netherlands.

Designs made by Marks are part of the collection of Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Vienna; Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York, and other museums.
