Marcel Wanders was born in Boxtel, the Netherlands in 1963 and lives and works in Amsterdam. Studied at a number of academies in the Netherlands and Belgium and at the Academy of Arts in Arnhem, where he graduated with credit in 1988.
Worked for Landmark Design & Consult b.v., Rotterdam (1990-1992) and was a partner in WAAC's Design & Consults, Rotterdam (1992-1995). Since 1995 self-employed ind ustrial designer with his own firm (Wanders Wonders).
Various awards in design contests. Awards: Kho Liang Ie Award 1996. 1993 and 19 97 nominations Rotterdam Design Award. In 1996 he presented his 'Knotted Chair' at the Salone di Mobile in Milan, which was then included in the Cappellini collection and bought by the Museum of Modern Art New York.
Other Wanders' products are included in the collections of Droog Design, Artifort, Rosenthal, Flos and others. Designs in the collections of: MOMA, New York; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Museum Boijm ans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Centraal Museum, Utrecht and other museums.
