Peter Skubic was born in Yugoslavia in 1935 and lives and works in Gamischdorf, Austria. He studied at the Fachhochschule für Metallkunstgewerbe, Steyr and at the Akademie für Angewandte Kunst, Vienna, where he graduated in 1958. From 1979 to 1983 he was a professor at the Fachhochschule Koln, Fachbereich Kunst & Design.
Since 1980 he has been a professor at the Hochschule für künstlerische und Industrielle Gestaltung, Linz, Austria. Visiting lectureships and workshops at various academies in Germany and Austria. Awards include the 1978 Preis der Stadt Wien.
His jewelry is to be found in the collections of many international museums such as Badisches Landesmuseum, Karlsruhe, Germany; Museum Boijmans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin, Germany: Museum des 20 Jahrhunderts, Vienna, Austria; National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan; Sammlung Ludwig, Aachen, Germany; Neue Galerie, Museum für moderne Kunst, Linz, Austria.
