Last year well-known Viennese artist Peter Skubic celebrated his seventieth birthday with a series of exhibitions in several German and Austrian galleries and museums. This same year, in Hanau, he was awarded the Association for Goldsmiths Art-Golden Ring of Honour. The ring has been presented since 1933 to internationally recognised, highly regarded gold and silversmiths from Germany and other countries.
Peter Skubic's ring design 'Hello', which he designed for CHP is to be taken lightly and shows very well the scabrous, provocative side of his work, which has been as characteristic throughout the years, as his more ordered and constructed side.
The publications Peter Skubic Between Jewellery (Arnoldsche 2001. ISBN 3-89790-156-0) and Peter Skubic Spiegelverkehrt ( Munchen, Verlag Marianne Schliwinski, Jurgen Eickhoff, 2005. ISBN 3-924494-30-4)-both still available-focus on the phenomenon Skubic.
The exhibition "Peter Skubic-Schmuck"is still to be seen in the Kunstlerhaus in Vienna till January 8, 2006
